Derbyshire Constabulary selects Jermyn Consulting

To deliver force-wide Business Continuity Training and Testing Day

Derbyshire Constabulary recently selected Jermyn Consulting to develop and facilitate a Business Continuity Training and Testing Day.

Jermyn Consulting worked closely with Sarah Lister, Business Continuity Manager for Derbyshire Constabulary to understand the force's business continuity objectives and methodology prior to development of the content.

Sarah Lister explained; "with extreme pressure on budgets at the moment, if we were to engage external help, the provider needed to demonstrate excellent value for money. Jermyn Consulting achieved that."

Taidhgh O'Regan of Jermyn Consulting described the offering; "we speak with many Police business continuity managers on a regular basis and the feedback is that most training services are expensive and not specific to the emergency services. We listened to this and developed the type of programme we successfully delivered to Derbyshire Constabulary."

The Training Day was delivered to over thirty Business Continuity Plan owners and managers representing both administrative and operational areas of the force. The specific objectives achieved were to:
  • Provide a business continuity baseline briefing supported by case studies and interactive activities.
  • Demonstrate how business continuity is relevant to the individuals and departments within Derbyshire Constabulary.
  • Illustrate the legislative requirements placed upon the Constabulary to develop business continuity capability.
  • Highlight future business continuity development within the Constabulary. Inform delegates of their roles in respect of future business continuity activities.
  • Test a sample of Business Continuity Plans through use of a syndicated table-top exercise.
Participants were engaged using a variety of interactive exercises and lively discussions, augmented by a step-by-step Business Continuity Plan walkthrough and a structured scenario exercise.

"By engaging such a large number of people in a single event, we have achieved a consistent level of awareness and knowledge of our Business Continuity Programme across the Force. This session has provided a big leap forward in our work and really given me something to build on. It has saved me months of effort" commented Sarah Lister.

Taidhgh O'Regan summed matters up by saying; "we were pleased to work with Derbyshire Constabulary and provide Sarah with the outcomes she was seeking. It is always rewarding when delegates come and say 'thank you' after a training event and many did. It is also pleasing that as a direct result, another Force has since engaged Jermyn to undertake a similar session for them."
