The University of Greenwich selects Jermyn Consulting

We will work with the University to develop an IT Disaster Recovery Strategy and Recovery Plans.

The University of Greenwich has selected Jermyn Consulting, leading experts in contingency planning for the higher education sector, to develop an IT disaster recovery strategy and an IT disaster recovery and business continuity plan for the Corporate IT Department.

Jermyn Consulting will be working in partnership with the University to develop a strategy to align IT disaster recovery capability with agreed user requirements. Jermyn's role will be to develop best practice plans, templates and recommend a management framework for contingency planning in the Corporate IT Department.

Components will be:

  • A Continuity Blueprint Report that will include a clear strategy for IT recovery; a quantification of the loss of IT services; a gap analysis; prioritised recommendations and a clear action plan.

  • A cohesive IT disaster recovery and business continuity plan that will assist command, control and recovery activities in the event of a disaster affecting IT services.

  • A standard template for recovery procedures to provide a common style, structure and content for technical procedures, reducing the reliance on individual staff to effect a recovery.
Alan Broadaway, the University's Head of Information and Communications Technology, says "We selected Jermyn Consulting because of Jermyn's considerable experience in developing successful IT disaster recovery and business continuity programmes in the higher education sector. We liked the fact that they have worked with other key higher education institutions."

Gary Donlon, Director of Jermyn Consulting says, "We are delighted to be working with the University of Greenwich, our twentieth higher education client. Our experience of contingency planning and IT resilience in the sector means that our services are tailored to the particular needs of each higher education institution."

Ensuring IT resilience is critical in delivering effective learning, knowledge transfer and efficient operational performance. Being able to consistently deliver these high service levels consistently and cost effectively is a key issue that Jermyn Consulting will tackle. Jermyn will assist in the development of a business case for any investment required, based on the real cost to the University of any particular system not being available.

To make sure that future investment in contingency planning and IT resilience generates value for the University of Greenwich, Jermyn is actively engaging with a number of user departments. Ultimately Jermyn and the Corporate IT Department will create an IT disaster recovery strategy and plan that is right for the University.
